Racing under the banner of “Fat Chance” for many years, Oscar Nohowel brought to the Lake Placid Regatta a sense of humor and genuine spirit. His enthusiasm for the Regatta fostered the participation by many racers.
In recognition of Oscar’s affection for the Regatta, the Oscar D. Nohowel Award is presented annually to the racer who, in the opinion of the Commodore, best personifies the grace, humor and spirit with which Oscar sailed.
